Hi all, we’re still in Hot Springs Arkansas and enjoying beautiful weather. Hot Springs is a town of about 35,000 people and is named for the natual thermal water that flows from 47 springs on the western side of Hot Springs Mountain in the downtown district and is in a National Park. The water that flows out of the springs is about 143 degrees, kind of like Banff, without the sulfur smell. Eight bath houses were built in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and people came from all over North America because of the healing properties of the mineral water. There is only one original bath house still operating in town, and we are planning on going to it and see what it’s all about, we’ll keep you posted. All of the other ones fall under the national park and each are declared a historic site, but the interiors are now slowly being renovated for business purposes. The street in front of the Bath houses is lined with Magnolia trees and we were told they are beautiful in the spring. On a side note, Bill Clinton was born and raised in Hot Springs.
